In recent reports, the upgrade made to the Distributed Antenna System (DAS) has enabled Mobilitie and AT&T to expand wireless coverage at Churchill Downs. If you are heading to Louisville for the Kentucky Derby on May 6, then you will be able to enjoy boosted reliability and faster internet speed for sharing once-in-a-lifetime moments during the event.
DAS contains multiple, strategically placed antennas, which distribute the wireless network of the telecom giant throughout Churchill Downs. In addition to that, these antennas will also be managing heavy wireless traffic in the region. AT&T believes that the upgrade in the DAS system will bring a more consistent and better wireless coverage to their subscribers.
President of AT&T Kentucky, Hood Harris said, “We’re committed to investing in our networks all across the Commonwealth. These enhancements at Churchill Downs are just one way we’re investing in the Louisville area. When our customers visit Churchill Downs, we want them to have a seamless network experience – whether they are making calls, checking email, downloading apps or surfing the internet.”
The recent upgrade made by AT&T, who is one of the best internet providers in the country, has already added 20% more LTE capacity to the existing wireless network. This will make it a lot more easier for AT&T customers to share thrilling moments during the Kentucky Derby.
Ryan Jordan, General Manager of Churchill Downs Racetrack said, “As mobile usage continues to climb, it’s important for us to maximize network coverage at Churchill Downs. The Kentucky Derby is unlike any other major sporting event. And our company goal is to advance the guest experience. Our partnership with Mobilitie lets guests with smartphone service from participating carriers to maintain connectivity. They can also share their onsite experiences in near-real time.”
The President and CEO of Greater Louisville Inc., Kent Oyler said, “It’s amazing to see how far we’ve come in terms of connectivity on Derby Day. I would like to thank our state and local officials for championing improvements to the regulatory environment that encourages these investments.”
