It seems that AT&T is all set to go all out for their new DirecTV Now service. As per the customer support documents that were accidentally released by AT&T, they are planning to give away Fire TV Stick and Apple TV devices to users who sign up for the DirecTV Now service.
As per the leaked documents, users who are willing to commit to at least three months of the paid service, would be eligible to get a free Apple TV as part of a device promotion. In addition, consumers who pay for one month of service will get a Fire TV streaming stick as part of the deal. Both these devices are expensive on their own when compared to the service charges that users would need to pay to be part of the promotions, and this deal would surely attract a lot of attention.
The documents also shed some lights on the channels that are part of the DirecTV Now service and details on the VOD library. However, AT&T has not yet officially announced the channel list of DirecTV Now.
DirecTV Now was announced as an internet based live TV service by AT&T, earlier this year and they offered little details on programming by announcing their deals with Viacom, NBC Universal, and Disney. AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson recently announced that the cost of the service would be thirty-five dollars per month. The leaked customer support document does not offer the complete channel lineup, but hints that the channels list would depend on the local market of the users.
Even though, the document offers a better idea of the other channels that are included in the DirecTV Now service. It showed that Univision networks like Galavision, UniMas, and Univision, CBS, MundoFox, and Fox, the Hallmark Channel, HDNet Movies, and the Sony Movie Channel are also included in the list.
The list could be a preliminary one and it could change before the official launch of the service, and not all the users may get all the said channels. This is not just because of the local broadcasting rights, but also due to the thirty-five dollars monthly fee.
Apparently, the monthly subscription price only gets the users a base package, with options to add more programming for additional charges. “With DirecTV Now, you can stream live TV and On Demand programming with several packages to choose from. Premium channels like HBO and Cinemax can be added at any time,” the documents state.
