T-Mobile is one of the major wireless network operators in the US. They have recently announced that a handful of video services, which includes TV Everywhere apps like Fox Now and Dish Anywhere, would now be added under their Binge On zero-rated mobile data service. The newly included services consist of Apple Music, CEEK VR, ABC, Dish Anywhere, Disney Jr., D-PAN.TV, Disney Channel, DramaFever, NAT GEO TV, FOX Now, FXNOW, Tubi TV, Shalom World, and Sioeye.
T-Mobile representatives said that with the addition of these new services, Binge On now covers over a hundred video services. The TV Everywhere app comes after adding networks like NBC and ESPN, pay TV services like Sling TV and DirecTV, and some of the popular SVOD services like Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, Showtime, and HBO Now. The company further said that after the launch of Binge On, their users have streamed over 765 million hours of video data.
Together with the fresh addition of video services to Binge On, they have also released data compiled from a survey of video providers. As per the results of the survey, eighty-five percent of the Binge On video providers expect their users to watch more often, and forty-five percent of the providers that offer paid subscriptions expect an increase in user base because of Binge On.
T-Mobile has also asked the video providers about the procedure and technical requirements to be included in Binge On. All the existing providers said that T-Mobile is a straightforward and easy company to work with, and seventy-nine percent of the providers said that the process is easy. The amount of services included in Binge On has quadrupled since the launch of the service.
As T-Mobile is growing the service, Binge On continues to court criticism and controversy. Binge On service has drawn criticism, as it is the practice of T-Mobile to optimize and downgrade service without letting subscribers know of the changes. Binge On has also set off net neutrality concerns over network prioritization privileges offered to the services included in Binge On.
