There is good news for WDAZ viewers on DirecTV. Free antennas will be supplied to DirecTV viewers to tune WDAZ channels, but only until the stocks last. Customers can pick up the free antennas from the WDAZ studio, 2200 S. Washington, during the business hours from Monday to Friday. You are required to bring along a proof of DirecTV subscription to avail the free antenna offer.
An advertisement about this offer was published in the Grand Forks Herald newspaper. This advertisement stated that the antennas are now available for the viewers. Customers can go to the address provided in the newspaper advertisement to collect the antennas.
WDAY and WDAZ have recently announced that their carriage agreement with DirecTV expired on March, but they have accommodated the viewers by extending the agreement to the month of June.
“Unfortunately, notwithstanding our best effort to reach a new agreement, DirecTV is choosing not to provide you with our award-winning, highly rated stations,” the stations announced in a statement. “WDAY/WDAZ/KBMY greatly appreciates you as a viewer and we are disappointed in the decisions DirecTV is making.”
“On Monday 1,000 antennas were ordered for our DirecTV viewers that will be available for free pick up on Monday, June 20, while supplies last at our TV studios in Fargo, Grand Forks, and Bismarck.”
Mari Ossenfort, who is the Vice President of Broadcasting for Forum Communications, said that they are trying to negotiate with DirecTV, not to charge the viewers to carry the station in DirecTV Select package. “We know you are upset about missing our local newscasts, your favorite ABC shows and the NBA Finals and want you to know we have appreciated your viewership over the years,” Ossenfort said.
Forum Communications has now signed agreements with Dish Network, Cable One, Midco, and 25 other service providers to carry their signals. These signals are available free if you have an antenna.
